Overview

This tour gives a perfect idea of the geography of town with it's several districts and "must see" attractions and therefore is ideal to 2 kinds of visitors, those with a short stay in town or alternatively those who want to do the tour shortly after arrival in order to extract the best from explorations of their own in the days to follow. The tour gives also a good insight about all the peoples who modeled the shape of the city in the last 30 centuries and the main influences of each one.
Hilly Central Lisbon is where the original settlement of Lisbon (Alfama) is located. Belem district is a flat area by the river and looks like a different city. In Belem, the guest in our tour is presented with the 2 jewels of the Manuelino architectural style (Jeronimos Monastery and Belem Tower).
This tour is designed to give a blend of sensations, the old and the new, the formal and the picturesque, the weight of history and the lightness of street art.

Bordalo II's Big Raccoon Sculpture
Bordalo II (read Bordalo 2nd) follows the motto "one man's trash is another man's treasure". His works are made out of recycled materials that have outlived their original purpose, as a statement of sustainability and ecological awareness. In this particular case, the Raccoon is made of parts of old cars. The Raccoon goes from blurred to clear as the tuk-tuk moves away, a kind of effect causing usually a lot of "wows" in the rear seats.
